Frequently Asked Questions

  • An Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) is a university qualified allied health professional and is registered with Dietitians Australia.

    An APD provides a range of evidence based nutrition services which also includes individual dietary counselling, medical nutrition therapy (i.e. disease / condition specific nutrition), group dietary education and food service management.

  • No referral is needed and you can book a consult online using the booking page.

    Once an appointment has been made, an email will be sent to you requesting any additional information (i.e. recent blood results, medical history, current medicatons etc.) as this will help in the initial consult.

    However, if your GP has given you a Chronic Disease Management Plan (CDMP) or a Team Care Arrangement Plan (TCA), you will be eligible to claim a rebate from Medicare and a referral is required.

  • If you have private health insurance, depending on your policy and level of cover, you may be eligible for a rebate on your dietitian appointments.

    Please check with your private health insurer directly to see if you are covered and how much you will get back as this amount varies.

  • An invoice will be emailed to you prior to your scheduled appointment containing details on how to complete a bank transfer.

    Once fees have been paid, a video link will be emailed to you for the consult.

  • I use a browser based video consuting platform which is very easy to use. You will just need to click on the link in the email that is sent to you.

    To have a successful video consult you will need:

    • Internet connection

    • Microphone and speakers (built into most devices, or you can use an appropriate pair of headphones)

    • Video camera (also built into most devices, otherwise a webcam can be used)

    • Supported web browser such as Google Chrome, Safari etc.

  • Any mobile phone, laptop, computer, tablet or iPad with a camera and audio will work for an online video consultation. You will not have to download any apps.

  • Yes, your sessions are completely private. The video and audio communication is only visible to you and me, and it is not possible for other users to listen in.

    All notes taken during your consult are store in a secure practice management platform which is protected by 256-bit bank grade security and encryption.
